Dale & Vale Vets are holding the following meetings:

6th November @ Scotch Corner Motel

“Making gains from your losses” – a meeting looking at the information that can be gained by looking at post-mortem material.

Should be an entertaining evening, Ben Strugnell is a very enthusiastic speaker.

13th November @ Scotch Corner Motel

“Keeping Horses Healthy” our 3rd in a series of equine meetings. Looking at general horse health and when you should call the vet.

18th November @ Wensleydale Rugby Club

20th November @Leeming Bar Motel

The same meeting run at two different locations examining Johne’s Disease in both beef and dairy cows.

This is utilising some levy funding and should be an interesting evening for anyone having trouble with this persistent problem.

Please RSVP to your usual practice.

Non clients always welcome. leeminglameness1

We ran a series of two meetings on dairy heifer rearing, supported by Zoetis Animal Health, held at the Leeming Bar Motel on the 24th January and the 25th February 2014.

Both meetings were really well attended and the participants all took something home. Whether that is having your dairy heifers at 80kg by 8 weeks of age or the height to reach for bulling!

We presented some local data showing a difference of 18 months average age of first calving throughout the Dale and Vale member clients! That’s a year and a half on average some people have the extra mouths to feed before any payback. Sobering.

We have a full AI course planned for later this month (September 2013). We are taking names for future AI courses.

Courses licensed by DEFRA, with attendance certificate issued.

We are almost full on our next foot trimming course. If you want one of the last few places, be quick.

We cover basic preventative trimming, knife sharpening and touch on the treatment of simple lame cows.

If you want local training then please contact your usual practice to get your name on the next list.
